Millennium Trail update
4/14/2008
Preliminary work on the Millennium Trail has begun in our neighborhood. The Lake County Forest Preserve has begun engineering work on the trail from Nippersink road north along the ComEd easement up to Fairfield Road. You may notice excavating equipment and surveying flag work being done in the next few months. This is the initial effort before Trail construction. It’s estimated that the preliminary work may take as long as 6 months in order for the Forest Preserve District to get the necessary easements and permits. They’re still having some issues with crossing Wilson Road on the south end of the trail but the Forest Preserve District has decided to go ahead with Trail construction from the Round Lake Park south to Baxter. So we should see work on and off for the next few months.

Snowmobilers Beware
12/20/2007
It’s important to know that use of snowmobiles within the borders of Valley Lakes 2 Community is not allowed both by Association rules as well as Round Lake Village ordinance. This restriction applies to all common areas and wetlands, as well as the sub-associations within Valley Lakes 2 (Fairfield Lakes, Remington Trails 2, Heron Bay and Coventry Glen). Additionally Com Ed prohibits all motorized vehicles, including snowmobiles, from its properties.
Too many people are watching for violators. Don’t get ticked, Operate your snowmobile in only approved areas in unincorporated Lake County.

Caution – Coyotes on the prowl
11/21/2007
Be aware of increased coyote activity in the Valley Lakes 2 area. A number of residents have reported a pack of 2 to 4 coyotes roaming the area. They have been seen and heard along the edge of the wetlands near the townhomes and a few sightings of a bold coyote walking down Fox Trail. We don’t know if these coyotes pose a threat to humans but they certainly pose a threat to small pets (cats & dogs) so guard your pets Day & Night. Don’t risk injury to you, your children or your pets, avoid coyote contact.

Caution, Hunters near VL2 property.
9/1/2007
Update on hunting near VL2. pleases note the 2007-2008 hunting dates that affect our area. Deer hunting Archery October 1, 2007 thru January 17, 2008. Firearm, November 16, 17 & 18 as well as November 29 & 30. Special muzzleloader and winter hunt, December 7, 8 & 9 and January 18, 19 & 20.
It should be noted that our neighbor to the south is engaged in legal hunting on his property. The property in question is between the RL Disc Park and Fairfield Lakes southern border, and extends into the VL2 wetlands under the ComEd wires behind Remington Trails homes. Portions of his property are not marked or fenced, especially the western section, but we’re still obligated to stay off his property at all times of the year. We need to exercise greater caution on our property during hunting season. VL2 Members must avoid crossing into this property in and outside of hunting season, since the land owner has complained to RLPD that people are trespassing on to his property.

Beware - Make sure your shredding your personal mail before it goes in Recycling/Trash Bin!
7/24/2006
An important reminder to all residents, SHRED ALL PERSONAL DOCUMENTS before it gets thrown out or goes in to the Recycling Bin. On July 24, 2006 a landscape worker was caught rummaging through the recycling Bins on Remington Lane. RLPD confronted the man and determined that he did not take any mail of a sensitive nature. Never the less, it a cold reminder how easy it is to lose our personal data to someone who might be looking to steal an identity.
